Ladův kraj is an assembly of municipalities established on 23. 11. 2000. It has 25 members - towns and villages located in a region situated South-East of the Czech capital Prague. It is named after Josef Lada, a popular Czech artist and writer. The creator of the well-known tomcat Mikeš and other animal characters, water sprites and fairies, and the author of illustrations for Hašek’s Good Soldier Švejk found lifelong inspiration for his work in the landscape surrounding his birthplace Hrusice.
The main objectives of the assembly include support to the member municipalities, the development of sustainable tourism and culture, and the promotion of the region.
Visitors to this romantic hilly region can choose from many cultural, historical and natural attractions. These sites are interconnected by a network of well-marked hiking and cycling trails with a total length of 140 km. Sports lovers can enjoy a game of golf, tennis and squash or water sports. The proximity of and easy access to the capital city and other great locations, such as Kutná Hora and Konopiště, make our region an excellent starting point for your active holiday and discovering what our country has to offer.
